Keawemalia

Keawemalia is a 20’ x 25’ traditional hale overlooking Kahohonu in Moʻoanalua, Hawaii. It is named after a historic and recognized hale of Kahu Roddy Akau’s ohana that was located on the water nearby, in an area that no longer exists. Construction on this hale was approved via permit in 2022 and was completed in early 2024. Keawemalia was built solely through volunteer labor and gathered materials under the guidance of master hale builder, Isaiah Burch, haumana of Kumu Francis Sinenci. Keawemalia is currently used solely for the purposes of Kahu Roddy Akau’s laau lapaau teachings as a safe gathering space.

This hale, and the surrounding laau gardens are KAPU - sacred and off-limits. You are welcome to view the hale and surrounding gardens, but nothing is to be removed or changed without the express permission of Kahu Roddy Akau.

Thank you for your cooperation.
